Yaroslavl
This river city was a pleasant surprise. We saw the inevitable cathedrals, a small art museum, and a pleasant inner city enviroment. You'll note a large city hall built in Stalinist style as Party headquarters. Fortunately, the Nazis did not get across the Volga to occupy and destroy, though the city, a major industrial center, was bombed. The initial slides are of the Great Patriotic War memorial.
